Key Challenges
Complex Installation in a High-Density Urban Area Working within Canary Wharf meant navigating strict logistical constraints. Deliveries, installations, and site coordination were meticulously scheduled to minimize disruption to one of London's busiest business hubs.
Bespoke Glass and Steel Design The design was fully customized, with no off-the-shelf products. This bespoke approach required close collaboration with engineers, architects, and fabricators to ensure both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity.
Tight Programme Deadlines Meeting Barclays' strict timeline involved a coordinated effort between multiple trades, including structural framing, mechanical and electrical (M&E) work, and internal finishing. GSL's project team demonstrated exceptional flexibility and project management to keep everything on track.

The Brief
Having provided advisory support on the project for several months, GSL was appointed to manage the construction and delivery of mid-level office pods. These pods were strategically designed to create additional workspace while maintaining an open, airy atmosphere. Our design approach focused heavily on glass to retain natural light flow and visual transparency throughout the office. This solution helped ensure that the new spaces blended seamlessly with the existing architecture.
Our
Approach

Delivering this project required both technical expertise and meticulous coordination across different teams. Key aspects of our approach included:

  • Minimizing Disruption: We had to work around an active office environment. Careful planning was essential to maintain day-to-day operations for Barclays staff while progressing with construction work.
  • Trade Coordination: The project involved overlapping activities from multiple trades, including the structural frame and M&E installations. Our team acted as the central point of coordination, ensuring that each stage progressed efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance: With bespoke materials and custom-designed components, we implemented stringent quality control measures. This ensured that all elements, from frameless glass balustrades to internal screens, met exacting safety and design standards.
