The Brief
Working with the architects on the planning stage, Glass Structures Limited submitted a pc sum to the client for the works need to then where we were appointed to the project and work with the architect to come up with some provisional design.
Our
Approach
Having provided full structural calculation for the design, Glass Structures Limited attended a site meeting to undertake a 3D survey. Working from drawing everything was put in production to allow the contactor to procced with all surrounding building works. As all of the ‘stand-off’ fittings factory welded the tolerances was minimal. After apply the purpose made Satin stainless Steel (316) sider fittings the team moved onto the glazing.

Having craned the glass onto the roof area; our fully trained NVQ level 2 in structural glazing operatives had to manoeuvre the panes into position via the City Crane carefully into position.

After applying the weather seal silicone; it was time for the ‘Ritec clearsheild coating to the external faces of the whole glass bridge, this is an invisible liquid that makes the cleaning and maintenance of the new roof so much easier,
Having an extremely tight deadline our amazing team had this installed in one week in order for the main contactor to remove the scaffolding and finish to works to get the area of the college open again.
